The Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research has joined the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Severe Mental Illnesses (SMI) programme.
IAPT is an NHS initiative offering interventions approved by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) for treating people with depression and anxiety disorders, which has recently broadened its scope to include psychosis, personality disorder and bipolar disorder. Professor Steven Jones, Director of the Spectrum Centre, has joined the National Expert Advisory Group and the Service Development Group of the IAPT programme for SMI, whilst the Spectrum Centre's Associate Director, Dr Fiona Lobban, has joined the Training and Education Group of the IAPT programme.
