Personal Introduction

Ebun is a medically qualified doctor, and has a Masters in Epidemiology and Public Health Policy from the School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She completed her PhD in End-of-Life Care at the VU Medical Center in Amsterdam, where she examined \"Care in the last three months of life\" for patients whose deaths were expected and non-sudden. Currently she works with Prof Sheila Payne, President of the EAPC, as a senior researcher on the EU funded EURO IMPACT project based at the International Observatory on End of Life Care in Lancaster University. Her brief is to evaluate the practice of palliative sedation until death in different European countries and to develop clinical guidelines for its use. Results of her research will benefit the small but significant group of terminally patients, whose symptoms do not respond to known methods of relief within an acceptable time frame.
