Personal Introduction
Eric has been Professor of Disability and Health Research at Lancaster University since February 2000. Since April 2010 he has been Co-Director of the English specialist Public Health Observatory on learning disabilities (
www.ihal.org.uk). He is also Professor of Disability Population Health at the Centre for Disability Research and Policy at the University of Sydney. He previously held appointments at the University of Manchester, University of Kent at Canterbury and in a range of health care organisations in the UK and Canada. He is Vice-President of IASSIDD (the international community of researchers and research centers in intellectual and developmental disability) and is responsible for liaison between IASSID and the World Health Organization. He has been a member of several advisory groups to government and non-government organizations. He has written widely on issues related to the health and social inequalities faced by disabled people.
