Research Associate

Personal Introduction
Evangelia (Evie) is a psychologist, currently working as a research associate (part of European Commission FP7 EUROIMPACT Network) at the IOELC, undertaking a PhD in Health Research. Under the supervision of Prof Sheila Payne and Dr Sarah Brearley she will be collecting, updating and analyzing data evaluating palliative sedation at the end of life. Her work is linked to the FP7 UNBIASED Study, a collaboration between research teams in UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. The aim of the study is to explore decision-making surrounding the application of therapeutic (or palliative) sedation in contemporary clinical practice, experiences of clinical staff and decedents' companions of its use and their perceptions of its contribution to the management of death. As part of EURO IMPACT Evie will be working closely with Prof Van den Block and Prof Luc Deliens at Vrije University in Brussels, Belgium where she will be based for 6 months. Evie has completed a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in 2004 and an MRes in Health Research (End of Life Care) in 2008, both held at Lancaster University and has worked for a number of years as an EU Project Administrator for a Vocational Training Centre running EU Programmes in Greece.
