Research Interests
Janet's main interest is the physical environment in which older people receive end of life care. After completing the MMedSci in Palliative Care at the University of Sheffield in 2007, Janet was awarded a scholarship by the Cancer Experiences Collaborative. This enabled her to undertake a review of the literature on the environmental needs of older in-patients at the end of life. In 2010 she was awarded a Florence Nightingale Travel Scholarship, which allowed her to conduct a comparative study of in-patient environments for older dying people in Australia, Sweden and England. She will continue to explore these themes in her PhD studies.
