Personal Introduction

Nancy joined the International End of Life Observatory as a Senior Research Associate in September 2009. She is working with CECO as part of their Methodology theme with Professor Sheila Payne (Lancaster University) and Professor Chris Todd (University of Manchester).

Nancy was originally a nurse and worked in London hospitals for a number of years. She specialised in Cancer Care and worked as a research nurse on clinical trials in ovarian cancer. Here her interest in the management of malignant ascites grew. Her PhD from the Institute of Cancer Research, University of London, involved a number of studies developing a novel intervention for ascites as well as evaluating the impact of ascites upon women's well-being.

She then worked as a systematic review fellow at the Royal College of Nursing Institute in conjunction with the Cochrane Collaboration.She worked on a number of reviews relevant to supportive and palliative care.
