Staff and Stakeholders

The DClinPsy programme has a staff team of 22, including staff with research and clinical specialities and dedicated administration staff. Staff are also stakeholders of the programme, along with university representatives, trainees and a large number of highly valued external colleagues: local clinicians; service users; representatives from the employing body (Lancashire Care Foundation Trust); commissioning body (NHS North West) and regional special interest groups. The programme's extensive team of stakeholders is held in high esteem, without such dedication the programme would not have such a strong reputation for its teaching, research, supervision and assessment procedures. The programme works with all stakeholders in an effort to respond to local need and current training and practice issues.

There are a number of ways in which stakeholders may be involved in the programme:

  • Selection: involvement in the selection and admissions process for the yearly intake of trainee clinical psychologists, including interview and presentation panel membership.
  • Teaching: Induction; Child and Family; Adult; Learning Disabilities; Older Adult and Neuro; Third year topics, including schema therapy, leadership and community psychology.
  • Assessing (with Honorary Lecturer status): critical reviews; professional issues essays; service related projects; placement presentation reports; theses.
  • Clinical Practice: Supervising trainees.
  • Research: Supervising service related research projects and theses, with opportunities for research paper collaborations.
  • Advising: Membership on the Stakeholders' Committee and associated working parties and inclusion in feedback gathering exercises on all elements of the programme.

There are a number of additional opportunities for stakeholders involved with the programme:

  • Training opportunities: CPD events, including assessment and supervision workshops.
  • Honorary Lecturer appointments, granting access to the university's extensive library and online journal facilities.

We endeavour to maintain our strong stakeholder liaison to continue to develop further our programme's strengths and undertake new initiatives.
