The doctorate in organizational health and well-being provides an opportunity for individuals currently working, or aspiring to work, in the area of organizational health and well-being to develop their knowledge and understanding of the psychological, social and organizational aspects of the dynamic relationship between work and health.
This taught part-time doctoral programme offers professionals not wishing to undertake a traditional research doctorate the opportunity to engage with higher level education and to conduct their research within their own organization and address 'real' issues of organizational relevance. It is not restricted to any one professional group or discipline, and is intended to be international in focus appealing to individuals working across a variety of public, private and voluntary sectors.
The standard minimum entry requirements are a recognised first degree or equivalent. Where English is not the first language a threshold of IELTS score of 6.5 is required.
The course will be delivered primarily through distance e-Learning supported by an annual residential block.
Years 1 and 2 involve taught modules in research methods and organizational health and well-being issues. From Year 3 students will undertake an independent research project which will conclude with the submission of a thesis (35,000 words) which will be supervised from Lancaster University but undertaken in the student's workplace.
Commencing in June of each year, the minimum is 4 years and the maximum is 7 years.
