Taught and Research Masters Programmes

in a wide range of subject areas

Our courses are delivered in several ways, including campus-based, distance/e-based, blended, or work based learning.

Available Programmes

Masters programmes, which may be undertaken on a full or part-time basis, are currently available in the Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences, and the Division of Health Research. These courses are complete in themselves, but may also be used as a valuable stepping stone to PhD study. Part-time work based Masters programmes are available from CETAD - the specialist work based learning centre within the Faculty.

In the Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences, two taught Masters schemes are available. An MSc in Biomedicine and an MSc in Medical Biotechnology and Leadership. A Masters by Research in Biomedical Sciences is also available.

The Division of Health Research offers a Masters in Hospice Leadership (with the Lancaster University Management School).

Lancaster Medical School offers a MSc (by Research) in Medical Sciences.

CETAD offers part time taught Postgraduate Certificates, Postgraduate Diplomas and Masters Degrees. We also offer a Negotiated Work Based Learning route which enables you to design your own postgraduate programme of study.

Masters Scholarships

The deadline for applications for funding has passed and scholarships have been allocated for 2012/13 entry.

The Faculty of Health and Medicine is pleased to offer a number of scholarships for outstanding overseas students wishing to study on a Masters level programme. The value of each award will be £1,000 per student. Awards will be made for one year only and are conditional on satisfactory progress during the first term of study. These awards are administered by individual Departments.

Applicants wishing to be considered for these awards should apply via the University electronic applications process by the deadline date.

To be considered for an award, applicants must already hold an offer of a place to study in any Department in the Faculty of Health and Medicine by the deadline date and should be due to commence their studies in October 2012. Applicants may only apply for an award for a programme on which they are not already registered.

Scholarship awards will allocated to successful students in the form of a fees reduction.

Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals residing in Brazil, China and India.

If you are an Overseas Applicant, the deadline for submitting your application to study on our postgraduate programmes commencing in October in the Faculty of Health and Medicine is in mid-August, as from this date there is insufficient time remaining before the start of the programme for us to be able to make a decision in time for you to apply for and obtain a Visa.

Applications from overseas candidates for study on postgraduate programmes with later or flexible start dates will continue to be accepted.
