Face to face and distance learning programmes

Within the Faculty of Health and Medicine we offer postgraduate programmes in a range of subjects delivered via face to face seminars, lectures and lab sessions or through distance learning.

MSc in Biomedicine

This programme provides the opportunity for students to acquire a greater understanding of practical and theoretical biomedical science. We place particular emphasis on the molecules and mechanisms fundamental to life processes and how these are disrupted by disease.

MSc in Medical Biotechnology and Leadership

This programme provides advanced knowledge of modern medical biotechnology and the leadership and project management skills required in a biotechnology setting. The course offers practical based teaching of a wide range of biomedical skills coupled to a detailed knowledge of drug discovery and development, along with the project management skills, crucial to successful medical biotechnology companies. The course culminates in the application of all of these taught skills to a 6 month cutting edge research project in aspects of medical biotechnology which align with the research activities within BLS.

Masters in Hospice Leadership (joint with Lancaster University Management School)

This new part-time Masters in Hospice Leadership is designed to address the development needs and challenges facing leaders in palliative and end-of-life care, both now and in the future.

Developed in partnership with Lancaster University Management School and Help the Hospices, the programme is designed for chief executives, senior managers and suitably qualified people who aspire to lead hospices both in the UK and overseas.

If you are an Overseas Applicant, the deadline for submitting your application to study on our postgraduate programmes commencing in October 2012 in the Faculty of Health and Medicine, was Wednesday 15 August 2012, as from this date there will be insufficient time remaining before the start of the programme for us to be able to make a decision in time for you to apply for and obtain a Visa.

Applications from overseas candidates for study on postgraduate programmes with later or flexible start dates will continue to be accepted.
