GM's Resources
This page has all kinds of little bits and pieces that various GMs thought might be useful for other people to use in their games.
Note that the LURPS Library contains a number of maps of major cities around the globe, and there are some useful websites listed on the Links page.
Name Lists
Anglo-Saxon NPC Name List, by Richard Cowen (word.doc)
This is something I threw together for a game of Cthulhu Dark Ages. In the Dark Ages, it was unusual to have a surname, since that would imply that there was more than one person of your name in the village, or that you were particularly worthy of note.
The list is comprised mainly of names scavenged from the depths of Medieval: Total War - The Viking Invasion, and the list provided in the main Cthulhu Dark Ages corebook.
Modern British NPC Name List, by Richard Cowen (word.doc)
While running an Unknown Armies campaign set in the UK, I produced this list of forenames and surnames, for those situations when an NPC unexpectedly enters the game and you don't want to give him an off-the-top-of-your-head name like Bob, Kev or Dave. The list is designed with the United Kingdom (and specifically England) in mind, but could conceivably be used for other English-speaking nations, with only the addition of more local naming patterns.
Character Sheets
Cthulhu Dark Ages Character Sheet, by Richard Cowen (word.doc)
It's not particularly fancy-looking, but it's a lot more economical to print out than the official one, which has lots of background shading and detail. It's also updated with the skills and so on from the v.1.1 'patch' released on the Cthulhu Dark Ages homepage.
Other Bits
Unknown Armies: Arkham, by Richard Cowen (word.doc)
Taken from an Unknown Armies campaign set in Arkham (a recurring location in the Cthulhu Mythos), this document has Unknown Armies stats for Deep Ones, Shoggoths, Rat Things, Ghouls, Star Spawn of Cthulhu and walking corpses, plus numerous Arkham NPCs, including several cultists of Cthulhu and Mythos investigators.
It takes at least a little knowledge of the Cthulhu Mythos and Call of Cthulhu to effectively use the Cthulhoid elements in an Unknown Armies game. Even then, I had Arkham and the Mythos existing solely as a 'reality blister', formed by the dreams of a powerfully psychic lunatic and Lovecraft addict.
As a disclaimer, being a combination of Unknown Armies and Call of Cthulhu, there are some rather unpleasant details in this download.
Unknown Armies: Miskatonic University Library Collection, by Richard Cowen (word.doc)
Also from the crossover game, this is a summary of those Mythos tomes placed within the collection of Miskatonic University, Arkham, by the Call of Cthulhu RPG. The first two pages are a hand-out for the players to read (in the guise of a guide produced by the library, for prospective scholars). The rest of the document explains what's really in the books.
Unknown Armies: TNI-UK Collection, by Richard Cowen (compressed.zip)
This is a collection of resources I threw together for an Unknown Armies campaign set in London, where the PCs were members of The New Inquisition. It includes equipment lists for a UK-based TNI cell (based on the more American-oriented list in Lawyers, Guns and Money), as well as a number of NPC dossiers and rumours for the fictional Haymarket district of London. Also included is a handout detailing TNI's London safehouse and its security measures, a surveillance report on a local gangster, as well as rules for the 'Doggoth In A Box' unnatural item. The 'Furby of Doom' ("Kill! Kill! Kill!") never had stats, so, despite popular request, it is not included in this file. Sorry, guys.
Finally, the gems of the British Museum's occult collection (as detailed in Call of Cthulhu's Keeper's Companion supplement) are explained here, in Unknown Armies setting terms, along with cash values and the rituals that they contain. You know, just in case your PCs decide to randomly rob the largest repository of occult knowledge in Europe, rather than continue with their assigned mission...
