ATTENTION ALL CLUB MEMBERS!!! The code of conduct can be found here. Please read it and take note!! ATTENTION ALL WATERPOLO PLAYERS!!!! There is an extra waterpolo site for you to check out with all the rules and fixtures etc. Please check it out, just CLICK HERE! Welcome to Lancaster University's Swimming and Waterpolo club. We are primarily a competetive club but provision is made for the future development of both squads. The swimming side of the club is split into a competetive unit and a development unit. Unfortunatly the AU requires that we excercise quotas of the number of members we have so therefore trials are carried out at the start of the year to assess the suitability of swimmers to the club. The times that are recorded are placed in a list and the top 50 are invited to join us. There is no time standard you must reach so come along and see how you fair! The Cost It costs a mere £15 to join L.U.S.T. and for that you get 10 swimming training sessions a week plus 2 waterpolo sessions. Please come and see us at Fresher's Fair for more information or mail us by clicking here to sign up. A Competitive Team We compete in several competitions throughout the year. Firstly we have the BUSA short and long course nationals held in November and February respectively. We take a team of about 15 swimmers to compete against some of the best teams and individuals in the country. Here there is a full programme of events from the short 50m sprints to the grueling 1500m. Club members are encouraged to enter and compete in these championships. We are allowed to enter as many swimmers as we want to. The only constraints are that a swimmer can only compete in 3 individuals and only 1 swimmer from each team is guaranteed entry into any one event. We also compete in the BUSA swimming league. Here teams are split into different divisions. In these galas the events are normally sprints. There are 2 rounds to these galas each year the best teams are then selected to compete in the finals. From a water polo point of view there are the BUSA championships (men's and women's). These involve 4 rounds of competition. Each round is a tournament between 4 or 5 teams. In each of these 2 teams qualify for the next round. We also compete in local leagues against teams of equal standard or above. Finally, we compete against other universities in a selection of friendly competitions. These usually involve both swimming and water polo and then a social event afterwards. The Social Aspect Each term we organise several socials. These can be anything from bar crawls to formal dinners. These are very popular amongst members. We subsidise these events a great deal and strongly encourage all members to get involved. Contact Information
