Comparison of Italian and Spanish
Adam N. Letchford, Lancaster University
To most people, the Italian and Spanish languages look and sound similar. But just
how similar are they really? The following pages constitute an attempt to answer this
question.
Notes:
- In all the examples, I have used the convention of putting Italian words
and phrases first, followed by Spanish.
- The page on relatives and interrogative pronouns needs expanding. I hope
to do this... eventually!
- If you have any suggestions or corrections, please let me know.

- Thanks are due to Rubén Maguregui, Christian Olaechea, Michael
Schilling, Ilana Walder-Biesanz, Jorge de Alba Rubio and Simone Morando for
some useful corrections and suggestions.
