Our group in Lancaster focuses on signalling mechanisms during plant stress responses.

We are part of the LEC Centre for Sustainable Agriculture

Our primary interests at the moment are in defences against biotic stress generated by attack by pathogens and herbivorous pests. Two major current projects are:
(1) the 'priming' phenomenon, by which stress enhances future defence responses, and
(2) early signalling events in the wound response in Arabidopsis, and the influence of the environment in these responses.

We also have a long-standing interest is in the regulatory 14-3-3 protein family. We have taken biochemical and molecular approaches to identify their individual properties and functions in the model plants tomato and Arabidopsis.
