Control system design, system identification and optimisation,
with a focus on state variable feedback using linear
and nonlinear generalised
non–minimal state space models.
Mechatronic systems engineering, robotics and the environment, including applied research into mobile nuclear decommissioning robots, civil and construction robots, micro–climate control in buildings, automation in agriculture, wave energy converters, the global climate system and intelligent transportation systems.
Developer of the Captain Toolbox for time series analysis and forecasting, which provides Matlab compatible functions for data–based mechanistic analysis of nonstationary and nonlinear systems.
