Current research projects Corpus-based empirical studies of translation universals: English and Chinese perspectives (funded by the New Century Outstanding Talents Supporting Scheme of China's Ministry of Education, Principal Investigator) Developing and Processing a Super-large-scale English-Chinese Parallel Corpus (China's national key project funded by the China National Foundation of Social Sciences, Co-Investigator). Completed research projects A Corpus-Based Quantitative Study of Translational Chinese in English-Chinese Translation (2007-2010, funded by the China National Foundation of Social Sciences, PI). Corpus-Based Contrastive and Translation Studies: Recent Developments (2010-2-11, Edge Hill University REF Investment Fund, PI). A corpus-based study of split words in Chinese (2008-2009, ESRC Award Reference RES-000-22-2286, with Professor Anna Siewierska and Dr Jiajin Xu) Using an enhanced MDA model in the study of world Englishes (2008, funded by the University of Central Lancashire) Contrasting English and Chinese (2004-2007, ESRC Award Reference RES-000-23-0553, with Professor Tony McEnery). The project has been rated as Outstanding.
