Postgraduate Accommodation
Lancaster University has a variety of award-winning accommodation to choose from. As a postgraduate, you will become a member of the Graduate College, and may choose to live in accommodation on the main university campus.
There are almost 900 bed spaces for postgraduates within the college, with students from all over the world making it a rich and diverse cosmopolitan community, and you can read more in the Graduate College factsheet. Many students will choose to live with us, though equally as many will prefer to live in the city centre, and the Students’ Union can advise you on your private rented accommodation options.

Award Winners
Lancaster University Accommodation retained the title of ‘Best University Halls’ in the National Student Housing Survey of 120 UK institutions for the third year in 2012, among a clutch of other awards including ‘Best Booking Experience’ and 'Best Moving In Experience'. We are also one of only five institutions to achieve the International Accommodation Quality Mark, awarded where satisfaction among International students was at 90% or higher.
There were a number of areas where Lancaster far exceeded the national average, including value for money (70% compared to 54% nationally); Neighbourhood safety (97% compared to 77% nationally); and Relationship with Landlord (78% compared to 57% nationally), and we exceeded expectations in areas such as communications, recycling facilities, noise levels and local amenities.
Services
Our residence charges are inclusive of heating, lighting, electricity, and a 24-hour security presence during term time. Access to the University network and high speed Internet is included, as is an insurance premium that covers your possessions up to the value of £4,500.
A basic cleaning service is provided in shared areas such as kitchens and corridors in most of the accommodation, though you are responsible for keeping your own room clean! As they offer a more independent style of living there is no cleaning service provided to studio apartments or townhouses.
A specific Residence Officer for each college means that the accommodation is managed locally by a recognisable face that you can approach with any queries or issues you may have.
