  • catered accommodation with breakfast and evening meal, from £116.97 per week.

Great value standard room with washbasin

Rents for 2012-13: from £78.75 per week (basic) to £92.75 on a 40 week contract.

Available in: Bowland, Furness, Grizedale & Pendle Colleges

Students choosing our standard accommodation share kitchen and shower/wc facilities in flats of around 6-8 students. Your own room has a washbasin. Most of our standard accommodation was built in the early 90s and has been fully refurbished in the last year, except for parts of Bowland. These are older and around 15 students share the facilities. This is reflected in a lower rent.

Recently refurbished superior standard

Rent for 2012-13: £96.25 per week on a 40 week contract.

Available in: County College

Superior standard rooms are available in County College's striking main building. Originally built in 1969, it was fully refurbished in 2008 and now has the added benefit of a lounge area with sofas in each flat. Between eight and 13 students share each kitchen and the bathroom facilities. Individual bedrooms have a washbasin.

Award-winning townhouses

Rent for 2012-13: £102.20 per week on a 43 week contract.

Available in: County and Grizedale Colleges

Our multi-award winning townhouses have been built to the highest environmental standards. In addition to eco-construction and crime prevention awards, they have also been named ‘Best Individual Accommodation’ and ‘Best Learning Environment’ in the National Student Housing Survey 2011. Each four-storey house offers 12 bedrooms and six shower rooms on the upper floors. The ground floor features a large kitchen, dining area and lounge.

A selection of ensuites

Rent for 2012-13: from £101.85 to £109.55 per week on a 40 week contract.

Available in: Bowland, County and Fylde Colleges

Built between 1990 and 1995 and recently refurbished or undergoing refurbishment in places, our ensuite accommodation is available in varying sized flats in different colleges. Flats of 3-4 share in Bowland Hall, 4-6 in County's John Creed Building, 8 in Bowland's Slaidburn House, and 9-10 in Fylde's George Fox Building. Full refurbishment of Slaidburn House took place in 2011.

There are some 36 week lets available in County College where the Easter vacation is not included.

Highly popular superior ensuite

Rent for 2012-13: from £112.70 per week on a 40 week contract.

Available in: Cartmel, County, Furness, Fylde, Grizedale, Lonsdale and Pendle Colleges

Cartmel and Lonsdale are made up entirely of superior ensuite accommodation, and it is a popular choice in all the other colleges listed. All our superior ensuite accommodation has been built between 2004-08. Eight students generally share the kitchen facilities in these buildings. Some 36-week lets (excluding the Easter vacation) are available in Cartmel and County Colleges. A handful of larger rooms are also available for a slightly higher weekly rent.

Self-contained studios

Rent for 2012-13: Single studio £134.40 per week on a 40 week contract. Twin studio £157.50 per week (£78.75 per person)

Available in: Grizedale and Pendle Colleges

Our self-contained studios are a larger version of our superior ensuite rooms, with their own small kitchenette, dining table and a 3/4 size bed. There are no communal areas in these buildings, which may suit students who prefer an independent style of living. A handful of larger studios suitable for two occupants are available. Studio accommodation is located in Alexandra Park.

  • Basic Standard (Bowland) £116.97 for 40 weeks
  • Basic Ensuite (County) £145.46 for 36 weeks
  • Superior Ensuite (Cartmel, County & Lonsdale) £150.92 for 40 weeks or £156.31 for 36 weeks (Cartmel only).

Please note: catering is provided for only 31 weeks - the full ten weeks of each term, plus Freshers' Week.

While most of our accommodation is self-catering, we do offer a catered package in parts of Bowland, County, Cartmel and Lonsdale Colleges, consisting of breakfast and dinner daily during term time. You live in accommodation alongside other students in the catered scheme and eat in the dining facility at each end of the campus, which is open to students on the scheme as well as the general public.
