Sport at Lancaster
Sport at Lancaster plays a large role within the campus community. Our campus offers a great location to enjoy a wealth of sport and recreation activities to augment your academic studies.
Our new £20m Sports Centre and outdoor facilities, ranked fifth in the UK in the THE Student Experience Survey 2013, offer students the opportunity to take part in a multitude of sporting activities; from traditional sports to recreation activities we offer over 100 groups to consider. Alternatively if you're just looking for some 'time-out' then try our Trim Trail & Woodland Walk covering 2.6 miles and 11 exercise stations.
Competitions
If you're a competitive type, Lancaster provides the unique chance to compete for your chosen college in our Carter Shield event where healthy rivalry abounds. Alternatively, if you'd prefer to represent the University then you could try out for the Inter Varsity (BUCS) fixtures against other UK universities in activities such as Rowing, Rugby and Football. Or you could be involved with our annual 'War of the Roses' event when Lancaster University challenges the University of York - watch the video trailer for the 2013 event, which is taking place at York.
