Course Overview

This innovative programme is for people working in management, leadership and organisation development roles, and attracts participants from all over the world.

It uses a combination of five day residential workshops and one online workshop, individual meetings, regular action learning sets, and online learning to develop a lively and challenging learning community.

Rather than follow a syllabus participants choose the topic, perspective, and research methods most appropriate to them or their organisations within the overall domain of management learning and leadership. The residential workshops are devised around these themes:

Introduction to Management Learning and Leadership: provides the essential building blocks for the programme as a whole by exploring the philosophy and design of the programme and looking particularly at what participants expect to gain, both professionally and personally, from their studies.

Research, Inquiry and Consulting Processes: provides an introduction to the different philosophies, methodologies and practicalities of carrying out research on issues related to management learning and leadership

Leading and Working in Globalised and Intercultural Organisations: examines the impact and significance of the macro- and micro-dynamics of the social, political and cultural on both learning and work.

Learning and Capability in a Complex World: explores how sociocultural, economic, political and technical changes have impacted on learning and educational practices at the individual and organisational level.

Online Research and Inquiry Clinic (online): revisits the issues associated with research and inquiry that participants might be encountering in carrying out their dissertation work and research.

Final Review: a final review of the course as a whole and of participants' learning over the two years and going forward.
