Course Overview

This is an exciting collaboration between Lancaster and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The programme allows local English teachers to take up professionally relevant and practically orientated training alongside their teaching work.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong provides administrative and learning support, and Lancaster staff visit to deliver modules in short, intensive units. The programme comprises six taught modules, an investigative dissertation, and initial support via face to face foundation module.

  • Corpus Linguistics and Language Teaching
  • Curriculum Design and Teacher Development in Language Education
  • English Grammar
  • Gender and Language
  • Second Language Acquisition
  • Task-based Language Teaching
  • Trends and Issues in Language Teaching Methodology
  • Research Methods

Module availability varies from year to year.

Key Information

Director of Studies: Dr Luke Harding.
Duration: 24 months part-time.
Location: Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Entry Requirements: A good second class honours degree, or its equivalent, plus at least two years' language teaching experience.
IELTS: 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in listening and speaking and at least 6.5 in reading and writing) or equivalent.
Assessment: Coursework and dissertation.
