Course Overview
Creative Arts at Lancaster is the perfect choice if you enjoy more than one type of creative expression and wish to study more than one art discipline to a high level. Our degree offers you the chance to study two disciplines combining artistic practice and theory, giving you both creative and analytical skills. It will also give you a conceptual understanding of the social and cultural context in which artistic expression is appreciated and valued. You'll get to study contemporary, interdisciplinary and cross-arts practice in an inspiring and stimulating environment.
Year 1
In your first year, you'll select two of the four core modules of Art, Creative Writing, Music and Theatre Studies plus a third subject of your choice.
Years 2 and 3
You'll continue in your second and third years with compulsory modules in your chosen art form: Studio Practice (Art), Film Cultures (Film), Creative Music Practice (Music) and Performance Composition and Contemporary Performance (Theatre Studies). Core modules are also available in each of the subject areas, including Documentary Cultures (Film), Creative Music Technology and Applied Theatre Practice.
Each course uses the assessment method most appropriate to its content, including coursework, project work, portfolios, performances, recitals and exams.
