Course Overview

Studying Economics and International Relations at Lancaster gives you the opportunity to learn from some of the foremost academics in the field.  Our Economics Department is part of the Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) - a triple-accredited, world-ranked management school, consistently among the UK's top five.

We place a strong emphasis on research and use it in the teaching of this course. Your degree is based on the politics that have shaped the modern world and you will learn from staff exploring issues such as war and governance and their impact on the global economy.

You'll begin your degree with core modules in the Principles of Economics and Politics and Governance in the Contemporary World. In your second and third years you can really shape the programme to reflect your own interests, choosing from a varied and extensive list of courses offered by both departments.

For a list of compulsory modules, please see the tab above. Visit the departmental websites for further details.

My Economics degree provided a wide range of skills including team-working, problem solving, analytical ability, time management and commercial awareness.
