Careers

A combined degree that includes a language is highly sought after by employers. The benefit of a degree in Linguistics with Chinese is the wide choice of careers available to graduates, ranging from accountancy and IT to journalism, advertising and management. It is also valuable in fields where international communication is important, like science, trade and international relations.
The language and communication skills gained on this course along with a proficiency in Chinese language and a practical knowledge of China can lead to career destinations in the Civil Service, international trade and banking that operate in or with China.
Many of our graduates continue their studies at Lancaster or other institutions and undertake postgraduate studies or professional training in the field of languages or linguistics.
