Course Overview

Your degree provides an essential grounding in religious and secular approaches to ethics. Experts in these fields will be on hand to guide you through the course, helping to expand your knowledge and ensure you get the most out of your university experience. You will learn to answer questions about the relationship between philosophy and religion; what philosophy and religion have to say about ethics and what is right and wrong.

In your first year, you'll take modules including Ethics, Philosophy and Religion; Introduction to Philosophy, and World Religions. You'll study subjects such as Ethics, Theory and Practice; Cross-Cultural Ethics, and Western Philosophy and Religious Thought in your second year. In your final year, you'll complete a Dissertation on a subject that interests you.

Career opportunities

The critical communications skills and philosophical training acquired in the study of Ethics, Philosophy and Religion equip graduates to pursue a wide range of careers, including the Civil Service, journalism, banking, the police and business, as well as teaching and the caring professions. Some graduates also pursue further study through a postgraduate degree.
