Careers

Employers increasingly look for languages and combining German with Politics opens up many careers. European politics, journalism and commentary are viable, as are management and Europe-oriented sales and marketing. With strong language skills, you could also consider the Civil Service, the Diplomatic Service, the British Council and various international agencies.

You might also consider continuing your studies to a higher level. Lancaster's postgraduate degrees open up opportunities in higher education and our professional qualifications are suitable for careers such as interpreting. Many of our graduates train to teach German or English as a foreign language, either in the UK or further afield.

Lancaster University is dedicated to ensuring you not only gain a highly reputable degree, but that you also graduate with relevant life and work based skills. We are unique in that every student is eligible to participate in The Lancaster Award which offers you the opportunity to complete key activities such as work experience, employability/career development, campus community and social development.
