Careers

A combined degree demonstrates to employers that you are flexible, independent and multi-skilled. You will leave Lancaster with a thorough understanding of a modern European language as well as its history, art and politics. This is a great foundation for a career in the Civil Service, the Diplomatic Service or various international agencies.

Former Spanish Studies and History graduates have found positions in education, journalism, library work, advertising, business and management. Others have progressed on to further academic study, undertaking postgraduate research at Lancaster and other UK institutions or abroad.

Lancaster University is dedicated to ensuring you not only gain a highly reputable degree, but that you also graduate with relevant life and work based skills. We are unique in that every student is eligible to participate in The Lancaster Award which offers you the opportunity to complete key activities such as work experience, employability/career development, campus community and social development.
