Careers

A combined degree that includes a language is highly sought after by employers.
Languages open up opportunities in business and European politics as well as communications and journalism. With strong language skills you could consider the Civil Service, the Diplomatic Service, the British Council and various international agencies.
Our Mathematics graduates are also in high demand in government, industry and finance. The logical and analytical skills developed by studying Mathematics are easily transferable to a wide variety of occupations, including computing and accounting.
You can also continue your studies to a higher level, at Lancaster and other institutions. Many graduates train to teach Spanish or English as a foreign language, either in the UK or further afield, and there is a strong demand for Mathematics teachers. A professional qualification can open up careers like interpreting, while a postgraduate degree can lead to opportunities in higher education.

Lancaster University is dedicated to ensuring you not only gain a highly reputable degree, but that you also graduate with relevant life and work based skills. We are unique in that every student is eligible to participate in The Lancaster Award which offers you the opportunity to complete key activities such as work experience, employability/career development, campus community and social development.
