Course Overview

At Lancaster, we emphasise modern developments in statistical methodology, the effective use of statistical software and the application of statistics in the natural, social and biomedical sciences. During your second year, you will choose whether to complete our three-year BSc degree or our four-year MSci degree. Students on our MSci Study Abroad programme spend their third year at a partner university in Australasia or North America.

These courses will grant you accreditation to Graduate Statistician status of the Royal Statistical Society and exemption from the Probability and Statistics exam of the Institute of Actuaries, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

The language department is so friendly, the staff are really approachable and I have made some of my closest friends on my language courses.

Career opportunities

As a statistician, you will be ideally placed for a career in government, finance, computing, teaching, accounting and more. Recent graduates are pursuing career paths as actuaries, analysts and clinical and medical statisticians, while others have chosen to continue their studies to PhD level.
