About the Project

This site was designed as part of the History in the Community course which was tutored by Dr Mike Winstanley. The content was written in the early 2000s by Emma Vickers and Emma Edwards, students in the Department of History.

The site had been specifically created for use by the Publication Office at Lancaster University.

After quite a lot of bemusement, and initial thoughts of ‘oh blimey, what have we let ourselves into for?’ and ‘actually I think I’d rather do an essay after all’, we began to think seriously about what we would like to achieve from this website. We wanted to create a site that was both interesting and engaging, yet at the same time, easily accessible to a wide range of groups, including past and present students, staff and prospective students.

We would appreciate your feedback, so please contact us.

For example, do you think the website offers an interesting insight into the history of Lancaster University? Do we hold your attention, or are you bogged down with too much information? How easy is the site to navigate?

Please do let us know; your comments will be welcome and useful in the improvement of this site.
