Welcome to CETAD, Lancaster University (one of the UK's top 10 Universities) and to your learning programme. CETAD is a specialist centre providing high quality work-based learning programmes. Established in 1990, we've built an excellent reputation in Cumbria and Lancashire and now work throughout the North West and across the UK. Our base is at the University, but our programmes are delivered throughout the region. Above all, we believe that learning should be fun and enjoyable and so our programmes are informal, relaxed and highly participative. You may/may not have any formal qualifications before joining us, but that is not a problem. We understand and value the learning that takes place through life and work and our approach is based on 'building from experience'. We use a range of methods such as workshops, small group work focusing on your own real work issues, projects and one to one guidance. The emphasis is on knowledge and skills which can be applied directly to your work. Our programmes are challenging and you will be expected to work hard but don't worry as you will be fully supported by a dedicated tutor team. Our tutors have current experience of work in your area, are abreast of latest developments in addition to being excellent trainers and assessors. As a participant on one of our programmes you will have access to everything that the University has to offer. This means use of the library (you'll need to register), sports centre (reduced fee for students) and computer lab. If you really want to experience life as student you can even become a member of the Students' Union! We hope that you enjoy your time with us and that you find it rewarding and worthwhile.
