Graphene Week 2008 - Electronic Properties of Graphene-Based Nanostructures

The Conference is organized by Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), and it will be held at the ICTP (in the Adriatico Guesthouse), Trieste, Italy.

This Conference will be devoted to the rapidly progressing science and technology of graphene (atomically thin layer of graphite) and ultra-thin graphitic films. It will encompass investigations of electronic properties of graphene, modeling of its band structure and mechanical properties, growth methods, and preparation techniques of graphene-based field-effect transistors (GraFET's).

Topical sessions will focus on the on-going ARPES and STM studies of graphene and graphitic films; quantum Hall effect in monolayer and bilayer material; p-n junctions in graphene, superconductor-graphene devices and graphene-based spin valves; graphene nanoribbons and quantum dots. Oral session will include a series of invited talks reviewing state of the art of characterization methods and modeling of specific properties of Dirac-type charge carriers in monolayer and bilayer graphene, electronic transport and kinetics including classical and quantum regimes, and discussing new functionalities offered by graphene-based microstructures. The conference programme will incorporate two poster sessions preceded by brief talks introducing the posters.

Participation

This ICTP Conference will welcome all researchers (experimentalists and theorists) working on graphitic systems or simply interested to learn more about graphene. The Conference is open for scientists and students from all countries, which are members of the United Nations, UNESCO or IAEA. The Conference language will be English.

As a rule, travel and subsistence expenses of the participants should be borne by their home institutions. Limited funds are available for some participants who are nationals of, and working in a developing country (and who are less than 46 years old). Such support will be offered only to those who attend the entire activity. There will be no registration fee.

Requests for participation

Interested participants should fill in and submit the Online Application Form before 1 May 2008. The form can be found at: http://agenda.ictp.it/smr.php?1960.

Kindly attach your List of Publications as a PDF file to your Application Form.
