INTRODUCTION
This annual list covers book, articles, computer programmes, media material and art exhibitions dated and published or mounted in 1993, together with any items not included in previous years. Entries are arranged primarily by department, then by year of publication and alphabetically by author. Students' names are distinguished by an asterisk (*) and those of non-members of the university by a dagger (†). The practice concerning the abbreviation of titles of periodicals is in line with British Standard 4148, Part I, 1970 and Part, 1975.
We should like warmly to acknowledge the efforts made by departments and sections in compiling the materials for this listing and in helping us make it as comprehensive and accurate as possible.
