Lancaster currently has four in-country Foundation Programmes in China one at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) , a second at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), a third at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) and a fourth at Sichuan International Studies University in Chongquing. BFSU is one of the top universities in China and one with which Lancaster has had strong academic links over the last 20 years. GDUFS is a fast-growing, dynamic university with an established reputation for research. SISU enjoys a reputation for being one of China's top universities for the teaching of foreign languages. Sichuan International Studies University, our newest partner, is situated in a key developement region of China and is the only university in south west China specialised in Language Teaching. All four are specially designated universities that offer state level key programmes and are quality assured by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
Course content

The foundation programme is for one year and has been designed by experts from China and Lancaster to prepare students for studying their chosen subject in English. The course provides training in the four skills, including academic and study skills, a comprehensive introduction to Computer Skills, British Culture and IELTS examination preparation. The programme also includes a pre-sessional four-week Study Skills Course at Lancaster in September before the academic year at Lancaster begins.
Programme entry requirements

Students eligible for entry to this programme must have at least an overall score of 60% on the Chinese National University Entrance Examination. On achieving the required score, those students wishing to apply for the programme must then pass an interview in English and a writing test, which will determine their level of English at point of entry and their suitability for the programme.
