Lancaster University receives over 300 students each year on its Study Abroad and Exchange Programme.
"Study Abroad" is the term generally applied to students wishing to spend a period from 3-10 months at a foreign university taking courses for credit towards their home degrees.
"Exchange" is the term generally applied to students selected by their home institution to participate in a formal programme for exchanging students established between the two universities. Exchange students are not required to pay tuition fees to Lancaster.

Financial information
BUTEX Student Scholarships
Each year BUTEX awards sixteen scholarships to students studying abroad for either a semester or for a whole academic year.
Eight scholarships are available to UK students studying abroad in the USA or Canada and a further eight scholarships are available to North American students studying in the UK.
The value of each scholarship is £500 and will be paid to the winners once they have arrived and registered at their host university.
Applications will be accepted from January 2010 and the deadline for all applications is the 31st May 2010
