Research Interests

Member of the Lancaster Particle Physics Research Group

Currently I am doing research in the area of High Energy Particle Physics. I am a member of the H1 collaboration working on the electron-proton collider HERA at DESY in Hamburg. My current areas of study are the hadronisation of quarks which are ejected from the proton in deep inelastic scattering. I also take a strong interest in the structure of the nucleon.

I am also a member of the ATLAS collaboration intending to study very energetic pp collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) being constructed at CERN in Geneva. There, we will study the Higgs mechanism in depth. Currently we are investigating the behaviour of silicon detectors after irradiation at the levels to be expected at the LHC. The purpose of this work is to attempt to find a way of prolonging their operational life in the hostile environment of the LHC.
