Thank You for Your Support - 30th November and Beyond

Thank you for your support to defend our pensions. More than 2,500 new members have joined UCU (nationally) during November so they could take part in the strike and we've also witnessed a large increase in new members here at Lancaster which we'd like to welcome.

Our recent strike action and ongoing work to contract action should leave government and employers in no doubt about the importance we attach to protecting our pensions. Pictures and news from UCU members across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on the 30th November strike action can be found here: http://www.ucu.org.uk/n30

REMINDER - STRIKE FUND

Please donate - Last time we went on strike we organised a fund for colleagues who would be particularly hard hit by the loss of income, ie those on hourly pay rates or on the lowest union subscription rates. Colleagues, particularly those on higher incomes, donated very generously to the Fund and we were able to respond to people’s needs. If you would like to donate to the Strike Fund, please send a cheque to the treasurer, Dr Ian Paylor - c/o Department of Applied Social Science, Bowland North, made out to LUCU.

How to claim - Please do not let financial hardship stop you from exercising your right to strike. We are here to support you. If you would like to enquire about the fund, please contact the treasurer Ian Paylor. The closing date for claim enquiries is 31st January 2012.
