Industrial Action on USS Pensions - Update
UCU has agreed to suspend the current work-to-contract from Wednesday 26th September 2012 on the basis that the employers have agreed to restart talks. Talks should resume shortly on the key issue of the comparability of the USS schemes with the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. Employment Procedures
The local UCU is currently negotiating on a number of important areas related to our members' work conditions and environment.
The following employment policy was voted on at the Extraordinary General Meeting on Tuesday 21st June 2011. Members agreed to accept the proposed Redundancy Procedure, on condition that Section 2.2 be deleted, the acceptance to take effect on the branch executive committee's certification that:

a) the review of the existing employment procedures that management and the campus unions have agreed to enter has been satisfactorily completed;[summary of Review as of Dec 2011] can be found here (word doc) and
b) the issues raised in the letter of June 17, 2011 from the UCU regional office to the Acting Director of Human Resources have been satisfactorily resolved.

The following employment policy was voted on at the Extraordinary General Meeting on Wednesday 18th May 2011. Members voted to accept a version of the proposed policy from which the whole of section 2.2 was stricken out and, in section 6.10, the words "up to" were stricken from the phrase "up to two years".
