Negotiations with University Management

Lancaster UCU has remained steadfast in needing to address the issues of Fixed Term Contracts. Negotiations on Fixed Term Contracts originally commenced in 2011, stalled, began again, stalled but began afresh in early May, 2016 but then stalled as attempts to widen the scope of the negotiations to include zero-hour and all casualised contracts were disputed by the University. Negotiations commenced again in late 2018/early 2019 and included the broader scope of all casualised contracts.

We're pleased to report that members approved the draft policy on Fixed Term & Casual Contracts at the UCU General Meeting on 23 September 2019 and the new policy is now live.

The policy represents a huge step forward for anti-casualisation at Lancaster.
