Roderick O'Brien is Director of the Research and Enterprise Services Division. The Division is responsible for the University's outreach and knowledge transfer activities including the development of research income streams, commercial development and exploitation of the University's intellectual property rights, student employment and research accounts and contracts. Assisting in these activities within the division are the Programme Support Unit, dedicated outreach teams in the InfoLab21 Knowledge Business Centre and the Manley Building Knowledge Business Building, the Research Support Office, the Contracts Office, the Centre for Employability, Enterprise and Careers and the Intellectual Property Commercialisation manager.
Roderick is a graduate of Merton College Oxford and was formerly an international banker, most recently with Schroders for whom he worked for 14 years. Latterly he also ran his own business in South East Asia.
