Devils Bridge - Kirkby Lonsdale

The Diving
The River Lune as it passes by Kirkby Lonsdale makes an excellent drift
diver. The river here is not particularly deep but it is full of trout,
eels and even the occasional salmon.
 |
Get kited up and then walk through a narrow gate
and down on to a small beach up stream of the bridge. The current is at
its strongest here so jump in and drift down under the first bridge. After
the bridge the current slackens and you can spend time looking at the fish
and in the cracks between rocks for eels. The River shallows shapely just
before the road bridge and after the bridge there are few places to get
out. |
Depth: The maximum under the bridge is about 6m.
Vis: In settled conditions is usually 5-6m. Rain washes peat into the
river reducing the vis.
Air: Bring it with you, or stop off at Capenwray on the way.
Prices: Parking and Diving are both free.
