About BNUIF: The British Northern Universities India Forum (BNUIF) was established as a research partnership between academic and policy experts from social sciences, economics and management at the Universities of Lancaster, Leeds and Manchester specialising on socio-political aspects and economic issues pertaining to India. The forum was established in the 2000s and have been the driving force behind the highly successful Annual Khusro Lecture series in honour of Professor Ali Mohamed Khusro in the late 2000s and early 2010s, where speakers like Martin Wolf and C Rangarajan have delivered lectures in the Leeds University Business School. BNUIF has also successfully organised a series of Annual Conferences in Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lancaster, Leeds and Trivandrum over the 2000s and 2010s under the stellar stewardship of Professor V N Balasubramanyam from Lancaster University. Papers presented in these conferences have been published in academic journals and in edited volumes published by the Oxford University press. In 2024, Lancaster University in association with the University of Portsmouth is co-organising the BNUIF Conference at Lancaster with both in-person and online (hybrid) participation. The conference brings togethers scholars from both the UK and India to present their ongoing research and to exchange ideas and knowledge for future collaborations and partnerships.
