Wanted: Richardson Institute Internships Coordinators

Date: 10 September 2015

Richardson Institute - Internship Co-ordinators

The Organisation

The Richardson Institute is the oldest Peace Studies centre in the UK and is an interdisciplinary forum for research on peace and conflict. Based within the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion (PPR) at Lancaster University, the Richardson Institute brings together academics and students who are committed to undertaking contemporary research and to developing outreach activities.

The RI runs a highly successful student internship programme (RIIP) that provides advanced Undergraduate Students with opportunities to undertake research projects for external organisations across the academic year.  Previous interns have worked with organisations including RadicalisationResearch, which aims to provide policymakers and journalists with easy access to high-quality research and information on the issues of radicalisation, extremism and fundamentalism, and Maslaha, which works to promote a better understanding of Islam and tackle social issues, stereotypes and misconceptions (further information the RI and its activities can be found on its website: http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/fass/centres/richinst/).

For the coming academic year, the RIIP will open its programme to students from across FASS who have an interest in undertaking research on the themes of challenging stereotypes, peace and conflict.
