Widening participation
Everyone should have equal opportunity throughout their journey to medicine. This includes the whole process, from exploring medicine as a possible career; making informed decisions about courses; navigating the admissions process; to finally enrolling as a student at Lancaster Medical School.
Outreach activities
Through our widening participation agenda, we are developing a range of initiatives at each stage of a student's journey:
- We host a range of activities, such as open days, school talks and summer schools for school students interested in studying medicine.
- Our entry requirements page provides more information about applying for medicine and provides helpful guides of things to think about.
- All students at Lancaster Medical School have access to a range of resources and supports to help them with the challenges and opportunities of studying medicine

Working with schools
We are available to offer talks to any school interested in learning more about Medicine at Lancaster University. This could cover information and advice on our admissions and selection process; preparing for the BMAT; or simply what life is like at the Lancaster Medical School. For students interested in learning more about medicine, our school talks are a perfect means for passionate students to talk directly to someone in the department.
