Ioannis Chatzigeorgiou

Lecturer @ School of Computing & Communications, Lancaster University

This website provides details about my educational and professional background, my research interests, my teaching responsibilities and my administrative duties, both internal and external. Please either scroll down or use the menu to navigate my website.

My research interests lie in the general area of communication theory and include the modelling, analysis, performance evaluation and design of communication systems. My focus has been on physical-layer methods, including turbo coding and iterative decoding schemes for multiple-antenna systems and cooperative networks. Recently, my focus shifted to practical designs of random linear coding over finite fields, as the means to reduce delay and improve throughput.

As part of my duties in 2016-2017, I am involved in the teaching of the following modules:

  1. SCC.160: Fundamentals of Communication Systems
  2. SCC.404: Digtal Communications
  3. SCC.414: Advanced Communication Systems
  4. SCC.416: Speech and Image Coding

As part of my departmental duties in 2016-2017, I fulfill the following roles:

  1. Plagiarism Officer for 1st-year undergraduate and MSc cases
  2. Member of TACT
External duties include regular reviewing of articles for international conferences and journals, participation in committees of conferences and research actions, and evaluation of PhD dissertations.
